Amnicon Falls State Park
This park is about 12 miles from At Water's Edge Cabin and features a series of delightful waterfalls and rapids along the Amnicon River. You can view them from a covered foot bridge or trails along the river, or —if you're sure-footed-- from the rocky shore of the river. The park is a place to picnic, camp, walk in the woods, and learn about the Douglas Fault, the geological formation that created the falls. (Info from WI DNR)
Grizz Works is located about 7 Miles from At Water's Edge Cabin. This gallery displays realistically-detailed chainsaw carvings by local artist J Howland. The two carvings just off of the deck were carved by this artist. If you go to the gallery, you may be able to catch him while creating another master-piece. It is located at: 11547 E. Big Manitou Falls, Pattison Park
Pattison State Park is about 25 miles from At Water's Edge Cabin. It features the highest waterfalls in Wisconsin and the fourth highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. Big Manitou Falls is 165 feet high, and Twin Little Manitou Falls is 31 feet high. This 1,436-acre park also has a lake with a beach, a nature center, camping, nine miles of hiking trails and abundant wildlife. (Info from WI DNR)
Lake Superior's ice caves are a breath-taking winter adventure. In addition Superior offers Boating Excursions, Casinos, Charter Fishing, Golf, the Fairlawn Museum, S.S. Meteor, Old Firehouse & Police Museums and the Richard I. Bong Veterans Museum.
Birkebeiner and Local Ski Trails
Cross Country ski trails are abundant and very near At Water's Edge Cabin. Brule's Afterhours Ski trail is 8 miles away, Pattison St. Park trails are 25 miles away and the famous Birkie is 40 miles. Parking, a heated shelter and restrooms are available at the Brule's trail-head compliments of the Brule River State Forest and the Brule Valley Ski Club.

Cross country skiing, snowmobiling and the ice caves of Lake Superior are intriguing winter activities. In the summer take a boat tour and view the lighthouses of the Apostle Islands.
Fishing on the Brule River
The Brule River State Forest is 8 mi from At Water's Edge Cabin and offers exceptional recreational opportunities, including wildlife viewing, a 16-mile stretch of the North Country National Scenic Trail, eight miles of frontage on Lake Superior, the Bois Brule State Fish Hatchery and much more.For over one hundred years, it has been known as an exceptional trout stream. The Whistlestop Marathon in Ashland, WI offers beautiful fall colors; beginning in Iron River, Wisconsin and finishing in Ashland, Wisconsin on Lake Superior's south shore-just 50 mi. east of At Water's Edge Cabin
